Wills and Estate Planning in Birmingham, Hoover, Alabaster, and Clanton

We draft wills, powers of attorney, and advance directives for families across central Alabama.

Clients in Birmingham and Hoover meet with us at our Highway 280 office. Families in Alabaster, Pelham, Helena, Calera, and Montevallo work with our Shelby County office, and our Clanton office serves Chilton County. We also handle estate planning for clients in Spanish Fort and Baldwin County.

Most people come to us with a straightforward question: what happens to my house, my accounts, and my children if something happens to me. Alabama has default rules that apply when there is no will, and those rules rarely match what a family would have chosen. A will lets you decide instead.

We keep the process plain. You tell us what you own and who you want it to go to, we explain the options in normal language, and we prepare the documents.

Probate Attorneys Serving Hoover, Birmingham, Alabaster, and Clanton

If you have lost a family member and are trying to work out what happens next, we can help.

We guide executors, administrators, and families through probate in Jefferson County (serving Birmingham, Hoover, Vestavia Hills, and Mountain Brook from our Highway 280 office), Shelby County (from our Alabaster office, serving Pelham, Helena, Calera, and Montevallo), Chilton County (from our Clanton office), and Baldwin County (from our Spanish Fort office).

Probate in Alabama runs through the probate court in the county where the person lived. It covers opening the estate, notifying heirs and creditors, inventorying assets, transferring real property out of the estate, and closing it out. If there is a house involved, or if the heirs do not agree, it gets more complicated.

You do not need to have everything figured out before you call. Most people do not know where to start, and that is a normal place to begin.
